A few years ago, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia began designing a new model of support for families from day centres using technology which was given the name of etxeTIC Centres.
In 2021, NTT Data, IMQ Igurco and Ideable joined forces to work on providing a solution to this challenge through the use of Kwido technology.
To this end, IMQ Igurco also made it possible to design, with all the knowledge accumulated over the years by its expert staff in geriatrics and care, a tool for geriatric assessment tool and the creation of customized care plans that would be the gateway to this service.
Ideable did its development, implementation and integration with the Kwido ecosystem.
This tool allows, through a comprehensive questionnaire of more than 60 questions, to identify how both the dependent person and the caregiver are doing.
- Problems or syndromes of the dependent person.
- Risks of the dependent person.
- Level of overload of the caregiver.
First of all, this analysis gives us a personalised picture of how the person is doing.
Thanks to this, a personalised care plan is generated which should be carried out every day.
Finally, this care plan is transferred to a timetable, always in negotiation with the family and the dependent person.
After the assessment, the family is offered a kit that includes:
- A Tablet app with all the contents to be used at home for care.
- The Tablet has its own internet connection.
- The Tablet also comes with software to control its use and for remote support if necessary.
- Optionally, an activity wristband that transparently reports how much the person walks every day and how he/she sleeps.
The Tablet has an accessible and usable design for use by caregivers and dependents.
The Tablet also allows:
- Video calls with the centre
- Group video calls to combat isolation
- Sharing with families of videos, audios, documents, internet links, news, images, etc. to support each day in the interventions that have been defined according to the care plan.
- Third party tools to add games, physical rehabilitation, etc.
- Integrated messaging to receive alerts or ask questions to case managers.
- Cognitive stimulation games
- Questions and measurements for health monitoring.
- Etc.
After almost 4 years of a successful project, which is currently able to help care for 350 families from the Etxaniz centre in Bilbao, the Biscay Government is expanding to new centres which have opened their doors in Leioa, Ondarroa and Ugao-Miraballes.
In these 3 new centres, where hundreds of new families from Biscay will be added, IMQ Igurco has once again placed its trust in Kwido to extend its model of extended day centres.
For Kwido is a further step in the extension of a model that has proven to be successful.
We will shortly be announcing more openings in Bizkaia and also in other parts of Spain and Europe!
