At Kwido, our international expansion continues to accelerate.
We are proud to announce that we have just launched our first project in Ecuador, a major milestone that not only marks our arrival in a new market but also consolidates our business model across Latin America.
For this venture, we have partnered with a prominent local organization focused on medical centers, which has decided to take a step forward to address one of its society’s greatest needs: the care and support of older adults at home.
With a growing aging population and more than 300,000 seniors living alone or with occasional care, our new client has trusted Kwido to design and validate a pioneering Hybrid Telecare model in the country.
Much More Than a SaaS Platform: Strategic Consulting and Co-creation
While we are globally recognized for our powerful technology platform, our role in large-scale projects like this goes far beyond being a traditional SaaS vendor. To successfully implement an advanced telecare service, cutting-edge technology is essential, but service design is even more critical.
Therefore, our collaboration with this Ecuadorian organization begins with an end-to-end strategic consulting phase prior to launching the pilot. Our team of experts is supporting the medical client in critical operational areas, such as:
- Regulatory and Legal Alignment: Ensuring our platform fits perfectly into Ecuador’s recent Technical Telehealth Regulation, guaranteeing interoperability, data protection, and full compliance with both local and European standards.
- Operational Model Design: Defining the “wellness verticals,” the features catalog, business rules, and response protocols for alerts detected by the system.
- Hardware Ecosystem Selection: Helping to select the most suitable and cost-effective devices (smartwatches, Kwido Home passive sensors, tablets) for deployment.
- Capacity Building and Training: Structuring educational materials for families, who represent a core pillar in our care ecosystem.
We don’t just sell isolated software; we co-create new care models by bringing our deep know-how and over a decade of experience deploying services across Europe.
The New Kwido Project: Merging Medical Excellence and Technology
The primary goal of the initial pilot is to validate technology adoption by older adults and their families, as well as its clinical and social impact. The platform will act as the digital gateway to our client’s healthcare services, seamlessly connecting the home with medical professionals.
The long-term objective includes digitalizing the triage process to identify individual patient risks and map out personalized care plans.
Moving forward, the combination of passive security (routine monitoring via sensors) and active connection (video calls, wellness check-ins, and health vitals tracking) will enable the early detection of clinical decompensations, allowing for highly preventive intervention.
Reaffirming Our Global Projection
The kickoff of this project in Ecuador, alongside our footprint in countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Romania, solidifies our international growth and commitment to Latin America, where we already operate in Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, and Puerto Rico.
At Kwido, we prove every day that our technology and deployment methodologies are highly flexible, scalable, and adaptable to the regulations and realities of diverse healthcare systems worldwide.
We continue working with the firm purpose of democratizing preventive care and proving that, through innovation, ageing safely and independently at home is a reality.
We will keep you updated on the progress of this exciting project in Ecuador, and we look forward to revealing the name of our client and their new care and business model for Latin America in the coming months!
